Delonte Medley Scholarship Fund
For several years now we have been doing a scholarship fund for cosmetology students that attend the applied technology center. This scholarship fund was designated to help students jump start their career as a licensed cosmetologist and to encourage them to never give up on their dreams of building their own business as an entrepreneur.
We call this the Delante Medley Scholarship Fund because Delante, after contracting meningitis and trauma to his brain, wasn't able to complete his education at the age of 12 years old. Now that Delante is 30 years old and is starting to slowly learn things all over again to become more independent we decided to glorify God and the work that he is doing in life by helping others achieve their goals and dreams.
It's in the Bag
Fortitude Church, started an outreach program called It’s In The Bag. God has placed it upon our hearts to give back to the youth that are less fortunate. We believe that every youth should have a fighting chance to have all the supplies that they need to be successful in school. Last year, we had the opportunity to give to a group of refugee children and their families. These children receive homework assistance, arrangement, mentoring, and support in the Catholic charities youth program, Catholic charities, DSS of Charlotte.
We had the opportunity to donate book bags, pens, pencils, crayons, binders, notebooks paper, dividers, folders, glue sticks, and more. We want to thank all of our donors who supported the cause. We want to also thank those who continue to support the cause. We thank God for the many doors of opportunity that you open up to us to be able to help those in need and so that they will be able to see just how much you love them.
